Global snacking and confectionery giant Mondelez International has announced it has partnered with Lotus Bakeries to expand its presence in India and to develop new chocolate products.
In a press release, Mondelez International said the joint venture would allow it to manufacture, distribute and market Lotus cookies in India, as well as create new co-branded chocolate products to be sold in Europe or possibly globally.
Commenting on the move, Mondelez International chair and CEO Dirk Van de Put said: “This partnership will help accelerate our strategic focus on the cookies category by introducing a premium brand that is widely loved in numerous markets to a much wider audience. At the same time, we look forward to co-developing new, innovative chocolate flavours and formats in Europe, which will strengthen consumers’ already enduring loyalty to our two companies’ iconic brands”.
The launch of the first co-branded products is planned for early 2025 with Cadbury Biscoff in the UK and Milka Biscoff elsewhere in Europe.
